Stephen R. Oagley, a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY, passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on September 11, 1952, Stephen lived a life marked by dedication, both professionally and personally, and was known for his vibrant spirit and passion for embracing every opportunity life presented.
Stephen was a retiree of two reputable organizations: Eastman Kodak and Johnson & Johnson. Over the course of his career, he demonstrated a commitment to excellence and professionalism that earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike. His work ethic and integrity were defining characteristics that carried through all aspects of his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stephen was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. He was a skilled guitar player and an integral member of "The Jerry Hat Trick Band," where his musical talents brought joy to many. His love for music was matched only by his enthusiasm for railroads. As a member of the Rochester Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, he actively engaged with the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. Stephen took great pride in participating in all facets of rail travel, including assuming the role of Conductor, which reflected his adventurous spirit.
Stephen’s family was central to his life. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Michelle, Christina, Michael, Brandon, Bryan, Allison, Kellie, Heather, Amanda, and Mark. He also cherished the relationships he shared with his sisters-in-law, Eillen Oagley and Amy Oagley, as well as his great nieces and nephews. His legacy of warmth and kindness extended to many relatives and friends who held him in high regard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Oagley, and his siblings Mark, Susan, and Brian. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of all who knew Stephen.
Services to honor Stephen’s life will be held at Thomas Funeral Chapels, located at 4545 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY, 14612. A visitation will occur on Tuesday April 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, followed immediately by a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Those wishing to pay their respects may then join the graveside service on Wednsday April 29, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14612, those wishing to attend please gather inside the main gate Lake Avenue enterance.
Stephen R. Oagley’s life was a testament to his passions and values, leaving an enduring impact on his community. He will be remembered as a devoted professional, a talented musician, a railroad enthusiast, and most importantly, a cherished family member and friend. His presence will be deeply missed.
