Samuel Nester

Samuel Nester, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born in Geneva, NY, on July 10, 1942, to the late Harold and Doris Nester.

Samuel will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Mary Nester, and his beloved sister, Rosalind Heid. He also leaves behind his niece, Dawn Breen, and her sons, James “JB” Breen III and his wife, Samantha “Sam,” and Lucas G. Breen.

Samuel will also be fondly remembered by his extended family and in-laws, especially his cousin, Diane Poreda-Stana, and her children, Michael Poreda and his wife, Janet; Jimmy Poreda; and Chris Poreda. He touched the lives of many family members and friends who will carry his memory with them.

Samuel was an engineer by profession and possessed a naturally adventurous spirit. He enjoyed exploring life, embracing new experiences, and especially loved snowboarding—an activity that reflected his love of adventure and the outdoors.

Samuel will be remembered for the life he lived, the experiences he shared with those around him, and the lasting memories he leaves with his family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 AM at Thomas Funeral Chapels, 4545 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612.

A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Glenwood Cemetery, 1000 Lochland Road (New York State Route 14), Geneva, NY 14456.
