Ronald J. Yancone, affectionately known as "Captain Ron," passed away on May 13, 2026, in his hometown of Rochester, New York, at the age of 65. Born on September 30, 1960, in Rochester, Mr. Yancone lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and an outgoing spirit that endeared him to all who knew him.
A man recognized for his unfiltered sense of humor and friendly nature, Ronald was a devoted family man and an active member of his community. He proudly served as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 17834, at Holy Cross Church, exemplifying his commitment to faith and service.
Mr. Yancone’s passions extended into many areas of his life. He was an avid golfer and found joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, activities that reflected his adventurous and lively spirit. He also treasured time spent babysitting his grandchildren, nurturing a close and loving relationship with the younger generation of his family.
Ronald’s life was sadly cut short due to complications following a motorcycle accident. His sudden passing has left a profound void among family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Andrea; his daughter, Shannon Yancone; son, Nicholas Yancone, married to Laura; son, Bryan Yancone; daughter, Gabrielle Bonacci, married to Nicholas. He took great pride and pleasure in his grandchildren: Sofia Rose Bonacci, Lucio Nicholas Yancone, and Giada Elisa Bonacci. Additionally, Mr. Yancone is survived by his mother-in-law, Irene Scialdone, and his brothers, John Yancone, married to Yuko, and Thomas Yancone, married to Renee. He also leaves behind many dear relatives and friends who will carry forward his memory, including his "family" in the riding community.
Ronald was preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Isabel Yancone, and his father-in-law, George Scialdone.
Visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Chapels, located at 4545 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612, on Sunday May 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday May 18, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612.
In leiu of flowers contributions in the memory of Ron may be directed to Holy Cross Church or Knights of Columbus Council 17384.
Ronald J. Yancone’s life was one characterized by joy, generosity, and an unmistakable zest for living. His legacy will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him, forever honoring the man who brought so much light and laughter into their lives.
