Raymond Roberts Brown Jr

Raymond Roberts “Rob” Brown, age 68, passed away on July 17, 2026. He died from the injuries received in the motorcycle accident that occurred on July 17th. Rob’s Memorial Service will be on Saturday, August 1, 2026 starting 10 am to 11:30 am. The service will be held at Thomas Funeral Chapels. Location: 4545 Lake Avenue, Rochester NY 14612. (Near Lake Ontario Port of Rochester). After the Memorial, there will be a motor procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Location: 2461 Lake Avenue Rochester, NY 14612 . Fr. Justin Miller will preside at the gravesite. The U.S Army representatives will perform taps & presentation of the flag. If you are in need to sit down, please bring a folding chair. After Rob’s burial service, there will be a luncheon at Barnard Party House. Location: 360 Maiden Lane, Rochester 14616. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Lolly Pop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester would be greatly appreciated. Location: 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450. There is a website. Rob was predeceased by his parents, Joyce Eckendorf Brown Reed & Raymond Roberts Brown, Sr., Father & Mother In Law, Chuck & Birthe Ambrose. Grandparents: Lucille & Mort Cox & Olive Brown Sulots. Step Dad: Gene Reed. Uncles: Dick & Ronnie Eckendorf, Alfred Cox & Mort Cox Jr (Sonny). Aunts: Betty Cox Barry & Evelyn Cox. Rob is survived by his Wife of 35 years, Meg Ambrose-Brown, and Sister, Karen Carnahan. Aunts: Genny Podolski, Marlene Eckendorf Feather & Kyna Coates. Brother & Sister In Laws: Denny Carnahan, Greg & Pam Ambrose and Eric & Eileen Ambrose. Nieces: Christine Ambrose Willard (Dave), Sandra Ambrose Umiker (Dan), Denise Ambrose, Kirsten Ambrose Long (David). Great Nephews & Nieces: Andrew Willard, Camille Willard, Ryan Umiker, William Umiker, Sonny Long and Birdy Ruth Long. Cousins: Christopher Eckendorf, Doug Eckendorf (Marta), Dianne Eckendorf, Rick Eckendorf (Jenn M.), Billy Barry (Sandra), Andre Cox (Kristina), Maureen Cox (Linda), Dean Jevons, Darren Jevons & Kim Podolski Queener (Jake). Rob grew up in Titusville, FL. He attended Astronaut High School & was in the high school band (Trumpet). After he graduated from AHS in 1976, he went into the U.S. Army. His 1st job is a soldier & 2nd job as a bandsman. Rob served in the Army for 6 years. He was stationed at the 101st Airborne Division Band located in Ft. Campbell. “The Screaming Eagles”. In 1979, Rob re-enlisted & was transferred to the 389th Army Band at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. He received an honorable discharge in 1982. Rob had a career in I.T. He worked for Combustion Tec in Apopka, FL for 14 years until the Company was sold. He went to Webster, NY to work as a subcontractor at Xerox Corporation for years. His last years of employment was with ATOS (an I.T. consulting business). Rob retired 2 years ago. Rob had a lot of interests & friends. He enjoyed riding on the Kawasaki Nomad & would ride with his biker buddies. Rob also kept on playing trumpet over the years. He was affiliated with the Pittsford Fire Department band, Kodak Band & Greece Performing Society located in the metro Rochester area. Rob enjoyed performing with bandmates at parades, concerts & going to nursing homes to entertain the residents. He was dedicated to his wife, family & friends. Rob was Godfather to his cousin Rick Eckendorf & to Ryan Farrell. He took great care of Meg after a serious illness that happened in 2020. He loved his beloved cats. Rob & Meg moved their cats with them from Orlando, FL to Webster, NY and finally to Rochester. He doted on them. He also loved being a Great Uncle and enjoyed watching them grow up. The great nieces & nephews range now from 27 years to 16 months old. Rob & Meg bought a travel trailer 8 years ago. They went to Arizona for the winter & saw the Grand Canyon. Also, they spent time in Florida the past few winters (Rob was working remotely). They enjoyed that time. Rob: we love you and miss you very much!
