Nicholas "Nick" John Hellis
With shattered hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Nicholas (Nick) John Hellis on June 6, 2025, at the age of 35.
Nick was born on July 30, 1989, and brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. His passing has left a void that can never be filled. The loss we feel is beyond words — we are still trying to comprehend the reality that our Nick is no longer here with us.
Nick is preceded in death by his loving mother Patricia Hellis, brother Lee Hellis, grandmother Ann Hellis, and aunt Shelly Rupert.
He is survived by his four beloved children — Nicholas, Carter, Lahanni, and Patricia Hellis — whom he absolutely adored. They were his pride, his joy, and the driving force behind everything he did. He is also survived by his fiancée, Bernadette Lockamyeir, with whom he shared deep love, laughter, and plans for a future together.
Nick leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, including his mother Bonnie Schleyer, sister Holly Burgio, brother Malcome Wadell, nephews Kenneth Burgio, Chad Lane, and Samuel Hellis, niece Giavonna Burgio, cousins Melissa Rivera, Timothy Rupert, Christina Vasquez, John Hellis, and many other cherished family members and friends.
Nick was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone he loved. His loyalty to his family and friends was unmatched. He was grateful for every person who stood by his side, offered their love, and supported him through life’s battles. He fought demons that some may never understand — battles he didn’t always speak of, but that he faced with courage and resilience.
Even in his darkest moments, Nick could light up a room with his humor. He had an unmatched ability to make people laugh — often with an offbeat, wildly inappropriate, but perfectly timed joke. That was Nick. Honest, funny, loving, and fiercely protective of those he cared for.
He joins the angels who went before him, and we take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. We will talk to him every day. We will love and care for his children, and for each other, just as he would have wanted. His memory, love, and laughter will live on in every one of us.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the link below at the "Donate Now" button. All proceeds will go directly to supporting Nick’s children, whom he loved more than anything.
Nick, you were — and will forever be — loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
