Joseph Buckwee Genaro Jr., affectionately known as Buckwee, Buck, Papi, and Piloto, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Rochester, NY, at the age of 65. Born on September 22, 1959, in New York City, he cherished every moment of his life surrounded by his loved ones. Buckwee was not only a talented painter, self-employed, but also a remarkable storyteller, often filling any room with his loud and joyous presence.

Buckwee's personality shone through in every interaction; he was sincere, reliable, prompt, and outgoing, capturing the hearts of everyone he met. With a warm spirit and a love for laughter, he filled his days talking, dancing, walking in nature, and boating. His animated dance moves could light up a party, and he was often seen bickering playfully like a couple with his beloved Mami. Buckwee enjoyed the role of a designated driver during escapades in Puerto Rico, proudly donning his "Chauffeurs" hat and enjoying life to the fullest.

An industrious entrepreneur, Buckwee had a flair for creativity and mastery that was evident even from his high school days, where he crafted a handmade "Congo" with a leather top. His sharp mind earned him the nickname of a "Human Calculator," showcasing his knack for numbers and problem-solving. His commitment to family and friends was unwavering, and his favorite quote, "I will hold down the Fort." encapsulated his loyalty and steadfastness in all his relationships.

Buckwee took pride in his service to the United States Army and was honorably discharged, carrying the values of discipline and camaraderie throughout his life. His proudest accomplishments included becoming a father and grandfather, creating a legacy of love and joy that will continue with his family.

He is survived by Minerva, his former wife, and their beloved child, Joey, along with grandchildren Tony, Jojo, Alexis, Gino, and Aaliyah. His ex-partner Elaine and their child Nick also survive him, alongside grandchildren Jaxson, Mareiana, and Nico. Buckwee shared strong bonds with his siblings: Robert (Bienvenida) Laboy, Iris (Julio) Vazquez, Maria (Richie) Cortes, Michelle (Carlos) Bolorin, Sandra (Kevin) Henderson, and Rosemarie (Carmelo) Ortiz, as well as many nieces and nephews who will continue to carry his spirit in their hearts.

Though Buckwee's passing came unexpectedly while battling a terminal illness, he leaves behind cherished memories and love for those he gathered around him the most: his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosa Genaro and Joseph Genaro Sr.

His legacy is one of love, kindness, and unforgettable moments shared. Farewell, dear Buckwee; your loud laughter and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.
