Edward R. MacPherson, affectionately known as "Mac," passed away on May 17, 2026, in Montour Falls, New York. Born on January 28, 1956, in Rochester, New York, Edward’s life was marked by a remarkable blend of creativity, humor, and dedication to both his family and his passions.

Edward graduated from Aquinas High School in 1974 and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in culinary arts in 1976. He built a distinguished career as a fantastic, awesome, and creative chef, bringing joy through his culinary talents for many years. Those who knew him fondly remember his distinctive sense of humor—sometimes irreverent but always memorable—and his unique sayings, affectionately known as "Mac-Isms," which continue to bring smiles to those who cherish his memory.

Beyond the kitchen, Edward was deeply involved in sports, spending many years coaching basketball and baseball, serving as an umpire in flag football, and refereeing at the Sportspark of New York. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he passionately supported the Boston Bruins, New York Knicks, NASCAR, the New York Yankees, and above all, the Cleveland Browns.

Edward’s proudest accomplishments were his beloved children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Chelsea MacPherson and her fiance Jared Wilkison; his son Cory MacPherson and his wife Amber; and his cherished grandchildren Braden MacPherson, Jasmine Urencio and her husband Daniel—including their three children Evelynn, Katalina, and Leo—as well as Tony. Edward also held close to his heart his favorite ex-wife, Cheryl Alliet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret MacPherson, and his sisters, Kelly Pehta and Brenda Bennett.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 4:00 p.m., both at Thomas Funeral Chapels located at 4545 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612.

Edward R. MacPherson’s legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and deep love for family, friends, and his community. He will be remembered with respect and fondness by all whose lives he touched.
