Greg Herman- son of Chandler

My dad had a good heart. He was also, more than almost anything, a storyteller. He always had a wild story to tell. As his son, that personality could feel big, even overwhelming at times. But I also know it's part of what people loved about him. He loved to talk. He loved to share the things that he was interested in. Sports, movies, stories, and all of the things that made up his world lit him up. When I think about my dad as a father, I think about everything he taught me. He taught me to play tennis, to play catch, to track a pop fly all the way into my glove. He was a really good coach, and not only in sports. He understood what it took to succeed, and even when finding his own path was hard, he could still help other people see theirs.

And then there were the movies. We watched a lot of films together. He loved actors and directors and producers. And through all of those talks about story and filmmaking, I learned how he saw the world. That, love of film, became a part of me too. And so much of what I do today traces back to those hours sitting with my dad, watching movies. He gave that to me. When I think about him now, I think of someone who loved a good story. Who loved celebrating, who really tried to make the most of the time he had.

Travel well Chan.
