Carolyn DeHond (Tette)
At age 85. Born May 13, 1940. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Constance Tette, and brother Thomas. Survived by her husband Kent (Kicker), sons Mark (Melody) and Michael, sister Michelle Christenson, and brother Nicholas (Tina Bostick), several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Carolyn obtained her graduate degree in 1986 from the University of Rochester and established her career as a Career Counsellor at the Womens' Career Center, where she assisted women planning for reentering the job market as she had done. She then provided the same assistance at Career Development Services for people desiring career changes, and then for people who became unemployed and needed assistance in planning for future employment. She provided that service for employees at several major corporations such as Xerox, Eastman Kodak, Bausch and Lomb, and Corning.
Carolyn had an established reputation for her singing; she possessed an incredibly beautiful voice; having been trained at the Eastman School of Music. She sang in several choral groups, choirs, plays, and was in demand for many weddings. Her interest in music included over three decades at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, subscribing to the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto as well attending many operas at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She was an avid fan of Yanni. Her many interests included many trips to Europe, many late wintertime years at Charleston, camping, many summers at the Chautauqua Institution, and her favorite interest: she was an avid reader.
Carolyn was devoted to her family; frequently hosting family events. She was famous for her special home made pasta meals for her entire family and relatives; her dining room was always jammed full. She also really enjoyed cooking and baking; you would always find her working in her kitchen. She performed many volunteer activities: as school aide, a teachers' assistant, scouting, Sunday School, and at the Irondequoit Community Cupboard, where she also served on the Board of Directors.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday. January 9, at 11:00 AM in the Irondequoit Conference Center located in I SQUARE (Corner of Titus Avenue and Cooper Road).
Those wishing to make a donation in Carolyn's memory are asked to consider the Irondequoit Community Cupboard, 2841 Culver Road, Rochester NY 14622.
